acron.area2d

Area2D – rectangular overlap sensors with enter/exit signals.

Godot’s Area2D fires body_entered/body_exited when physics bodies overlap its collision shapes. For 2D gameplay (pickups, hitboxes, triggers) an axis-aligned rect test per fixed step is faithful enough and deterministic; the game registers areas + bodies with an Area2DWorld and steps it from the fixed loop.

Positions/sizes are Godot 2D pixels (y down), matching acron.canvas2d. Bodies are anything with a get_position() (a CharacterBody2D, or any object exposing Godot-pixel centre + size).

Area2D([size, name, owner])

A rect sensor.

Area2DWorld()

Steps all areas against all bodies once per fixed step.
